Hi, happy Friday! I spent the first half of my week clearing out outgrown baby gear (my evergreen rec: your local Buy Nothing group!) and was reminded that nothing makes me more emotional than saying goodbye to tiny pairs of shoes. :,) Hugs to you if you were a little weepy this week, too. xo, Alisha

“Came here to share that I’ve been loving Morgan Ryan’s A Resistance of Witches. It’s a delightful work of historical fiction x fantasy set in the WWII era. Highly recommend if you’re still looking for something to scratch the spooky season itch. The audio is great too! 🧙♀️🔮” Thanks, Liz!
The new Sense & Sensibility (2026). GO SEE THIS MOVIE!! I had the best time watching it this week at my local theater (which was 90% packed on a Wednesday night, btw - I was shocked). This adaptation blew past my somewhat low expectations. The yearning, the gorgeous cinematography, the sweeping vistas of the English countryside we all expect. The drama was mixed with just the right amount of humor. I can’t wait to see it again. As I digest, I’m curious to hear your thoughts (especially if you’ve read the book recently), so I made a spoiler-friendly chat thread for us here to discuss the movie. Drop by with your thoughts!
Weekend day dates. Last weekend we hired a sitter for the afternoon and snuck off to see The Social Reckoning, the new Aaron Sorkin Facebook movie. While the movie itself was just okay (where was this reckoning you speak of??), getting some time for us during the day was a big unlock for us as parents. Since we’re exhausted most nights, going out while we still had working brain cells felt downright luxurious. It also totally recharged us for Sunday night bath-and-bedtime, aka the most grueling hour of the week. Highly recommend, even if the movie’s a dud.
Pretty clothbound books: I will never be able to resist a zhuzhed-up book cover, and this week I caved on these gorgeous editions of Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Pride & Prejudice this week. They’d make a perfect holiday gift for the Austen fan in your life, and they have other classics too.
Because winter is coming: As a connoisseur of everything cozy, I’m excited to try these cozy slippers from Bombas and see how they compare to my Rothy’s clogs. Will report back. (I also got a few more pairs of the toddler socks - highly rec, though I wish they were a little less pricey...)
A perfect green sweater: I’ve been wearing this wool sweater from Sézane all week with jeans and think it’s the perfect shade of chartreuse-y green and crop length. Only sizes S and M are still available, but I found similar options like this one from Reformation, a cashmere cardi from Nordstrom Rack, one from Marine Layer, and another from Gap Factory.
To make: I’ve been lacking leafy greens in my diet lately, and this kale salad recipe* helped me pack more in a tasty way this week. The dressing is key: whisk together one grated garlic clove, miso, honey, rice vinegar, lemon juice, and olive oil. Then, top with avocado and sesame seeds. (Side note: I love our large stainless salad spinner that doubles as a mixing bowl.) *heads up, the recipe is paywalled
Reading: No book review this week, but I just finished Sense & Sensibility (liked) and started Fallow by Sarah Anderson (enjoying so far).
