Zoom workshop Feb. 22 Draw & paint with me and Jennifer Orkin Lewis on Feb. 22, 1-3 pm EST. with our very special guest and good friend Samantha Dion Baker this will be a fun packed few hours! Can’t make it live? Choose the video only. all levels are welcome including kids. There’s just a few spots left to our second week in Morocco. Out of the 13 (? I’ve lost track) amazing workshops that Jennifer and I have taught, this is my favorite. This will be our fifth time teaching in Morocco! The people, colors, patterns, landscapes, everything about Morocco inspires me. And the venue Atlas Kasbah…? The food, the rooms, the staff, the pool, the views. Honestly. It just doesn’t get ANY better. Morocco Western Massachusetts Join me at my home in Western Massachusetts for my third annual summer workshop. I’ve offered these workshops in June and August the past two years - but this summer this will be the only workshop at my place. Read more about the weekend HERE We will draw and paint what’s around us, and I’ve realized from the last few workshops that one of the things I love the most is styling a model and teaching everyone how to draw the figure in the same way as we approach everything. Not drawing and painting exactly what you’re seeing, but the feeling and essence of what you are seeing! Below is the lovely model I styled twice for our two weeks teaching in Greece last fall. The lady in green is from the August workshop at my place, she will also model for this upcoming June workshop! The model is just to spark the imagination, anything goes! I am sure I will also style a model for our Moroccan workshops. I feel like it’s my thing now! Planning for an exhibition This past weekend with the help of my assistant - I went through all of the work I want to show and I have many themes planned. Water, Nudes, Travel, Ballerinas, Leland and Stripes! The show is called Finding Light and Beauty. After seeing the incredible David Hockney show in Paris last June, I am obsessed with the idea of collections. I’m thinking of a whole wall of 30-50 small nudes. The opening will be Aug. 7 and I’ll kinda be the ‘artist in residence’ during the ten days the show is up. I’ll teach a few workshops, give a talk and have ‘gallery hours’ when I am at the exhibition. Jennifer Orkin Lewis and I are really enjoying connecting with our Patreon community. You can check it out HERE. I painted this during our last one hour Zoom where we painted our own version of a book cover. This was for the wonderful book A Fall of Marigolds. When I do go out - it’s to walk Charlie and this is how I look. That’s Charlie’s ear :) Signing off with a painting I made for Peter. When he brought tiny little kitten Mia home Charlie was not happy AT all. (OK, he tried to kill her a few times.) We were very careful and diligent and five months later - she rules the roost.
