3.28.26 | 🌷 How to harness spring momentum, without burning outDo you like what you've been growing? Or is it time to start again? Reflections on Aries season, our team photoshoot and an ice breaker question that always yields good conversationWelcome to The Weekend Edit, a Saturday ritual from The Good Trade featuring our top 10 reads of the week and a note from one of our editors. Happy Saturday! I’m delighted to have Grace Abbott curating today’s Weekend Edit. She plays a vital role on our team spanning growth strategy, creative reviews, and essay writing. In parallel, she’s also the founder of the widely read Substack, How To Go Freelance, where she’s built a meaningful following around independent work. I am appreciating her reflections on spring’s momentum as I spend the weekend recovering from a full week of on-site shooting with the team (more on that below!!). I know you will enjoy her musings and recs, too. I’m often tempted to say this about every remarkable woman on our team, but it feels especially true of Grace — she’s an old soul with wisdom to share. Warmly, Happy Saturday, The energy shift from winter to spring feels particularly pronounced this year. In the last few weeks, I’ve felt overcome with a sense of excitement, momentum, and urgency to get things done — to finally tackle what I’ve been putting off, and get clear on decisions that have been in the grey zone. And no matter your sign, this life-force is available to you, right now! Earlier this week, we channeled this spirit into our annual photoshoot at The Good Trade — two full days of shooting the images that will live across our articles and The Daily Good. Since the team is remote, getting together in person is always a treat. And photoshoots are a completely different mode than screen work — styling, cutting flowers, steaming clothes, and collaborating with a photography team and models in the mix. The creative flow that emerges from the unique constellation of people on set is always amazing — it’s truly like bonding at summer camp… And we can’t wait to share the images with you! ![]() A peek behind the scenes at our photoshoot Beyond work — I’ve noticed I’m not alone in riding this wave of spring momentum. Everyone around me seems to be going through some sort of change — whether it’s moving, a breakup, an aha moment, a big life transition. Spring has a way of illuminating everything that’s been taking root during the winter. And when the fruits pop up, it’s time to make a choice. Do I like what I’ve been growing all winter? Or is it time for a change? I just wrote a new essay on this very topic last week! But here’s the thing about spring energy — it asks you to grow and rest at the same time. The flowers don’t bloom all at once. They take their time. And that’s the lesson I need this weekend. So here’s how I’m resetting…...
