My automatic response is to be quiet and avoid. When we feel more connected again, out comes all the angst about everything. I have a hard time living in this level of stress and wonder how to manage myself in this. I’m already impressed you’re thinking about how to manage yourself with this, rather than getting your loved one to talk less or calm down. Let’s set aside the content of the problem for a minute and look at the emotional patterns. Some people love to livestream their anxiety. Externalizing it invites others to manage the reactivity. Rather than judge this, one can appreciate the purpose of the adaptation. Worry snags people’s attention and gets people involved.
