In a Nutshell
I've always wished I could be a morning person, but it's just not in my DNA. I'm a night owl, and I always have been. I love how quiet and peaceful the evenings are. No annoying texts, sounds, or distractions — just me, my cat, a cup of herbal tea, my cozy bed, and endless time to unwind and enjoy before it's time to sleep.
Below, my fellow team members share whether they're a morning or night person and what they love about being one or the other. Once you're done reading, send us an email to share which one you are, too!

what's got us buzzing
Night owls and early birds share their perspectives
"I'm an early bird. I love the color of the sky when the sun is rising and the feeling of having the whole day ahead of me. I love walking my dog in the quiet morning air when the streets are empty. But mostly I love how I feel — full of energy, potential, and optimism." — Ginger Wojcik, newsletter editor
"Because of chronic sleep issues, I'm a night owl by default. I've attempted to be an early bird, but it doesn't work. As someone who's child-free and doesn't have to walk a dog in the morning, I find little motivation for getting up before I absolutely have to. Ironically, I'm more likely to be an early bird while on vacation." — Samantha Costa, Bezzy editor
"I'm an early bird and a night owl. Not sure how that works, but it seems to be working OK for me. I love waking up early to get my day started and feeding my sweet little cat. Then, I love going to bed late, because I get to read and snuggle up in my warm bed." — Carla Dawson, operations manager
"I'm a total night owl! I've tried being an early bird, but I've found that forcing myself to wake up before I'm ready derails my entire day — I can't focus, I'm a lot hungrier, etc. Waking up later allows me to think more clearly and get my best work done in the afternoon and evening." — Sarah Choi, engagement editor
"I'm definitely an early bird. I love being awake while the sun is up and asleep when it's down. I'm most productive during the day and love an early start to work so I get more of the afternoon and daylight hours to myself." — Sarah Matysiak, engagement editor
"I'm a night owl, and those few hours I'm awake after my husband and four kids go to sleep are critical to my mental health! I need some silence and uninterrupted time to recharge. Plus, as my dad says, 'The worm got up early, and look what happened to him!'" — Katherine Hilton, internal communications manager
