FLAVORS

An old fashioned doughnut from Gideon’s hometown bakery. Cake-y and moist (sorry) and delicious.
Half a strawberry pop tart from The Salty in Charlotte. My dad came home with two of these after a work meeting. Mom and I were thrilled.
Mom’s buttermilk blueberry pancakes, eaten at my parents’ kitchen table with the newspaper spread out. A perfect Sunday morning in Charlotte.
Sangria at Mezzanotte in Georgetown. Utterly refreshing.
Strawberry, feta, and mint couscous by Sara Tane. Fascinating flavor profile, highly recommend!

WEARABLES

This dress, which I now have in three variations and is officially my go-to wedding guest outfit.
My favorite hair clip from Chunks. They have the best designs!
Another wedding hack — this shimmer stick from Stila is the quickest way to bright, sparkly eyelids. And it’s on sale right now, so.

READS + SOUNDS

The poem “Pink Suede Boots” by Alison Luterman, discovered while reading my mother-in-law’s copy of The Sun.
Severance by Ling Ma, a book I’ve been meaning to read for years! If you like apocalyptic stories with a satirical edge, this one’s for you.
I’m digging the new Glass Animals album I Love You So F***ing Much. Favorite songs include “Wonderful Nothing” and “A Tear in Space (Airlock).”

WATCHES

Love Island USA, said everyone on the planet! But the season six contestants have chemistry. I’ve felt entertained at every turn (Kordell expressing his desires to be sponsored by Cheez-Its? ICONIC).
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, watched on my recent cross-country flight. What a campy, weird delight!
America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, consumed in three days with my mom while I was in Charlotte. Follow it with Anne Helen Peterson’s recent essay.
