The best advice I have ever received came in the form of lessons learned from my grandmother, who taught me to trust my instincts, be kind to myself, and remain spiritually connected.
"I would give nearly anything to have one final conversation with my grandparents...to hear their final hopes and dreams, to understand their lives beyond just 'being grandparents,' to know how they’d have their legacies carried on."
💼 For job seekers: Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) is a unique Chicago-based org serving low-income seniors; they're looking for a new Resident Engagement Coordinator.
📝 A good question: Is there something you hope to do this summer? How might you make it happen during the next couple of weeks?
"This card game is designed to cultivate discussion and to deepen friendships (no matter what stage, from acquaintances to besties!). I've enjoyed playing it with pals and dates to kick off an interesting, fulfilling relationship. (Psst — there's also a Breakup Edition that I just ordered too 😭 I'll report back if it's helpful)." What one reader wishes they'd known ahead of adulthood:
"I thought deeply about this question, and a lot came up for me. What I feel is most pertinent is that it’s far more precious to build the faith to do small things more so than the big things. Hear me out: We spend a lot of energy on higher ed, on ways to build our careers, and 'big-ticket' life achievements (and rightly so — I’m not shaming), but I’ve found that courage and the formation of my best self is profoundly more evident in the faith I’ve had as an adult to do the little things (i.e. writing that letter, talking to my neighbor for more than a hi/goodbye, being the one to apologize) — in other words, the things we tend to 'disregard.' Life is in the small moments. Teach kids to pay attention! " - DW
