In a Nutshell
Welcome back to another edition of my tattoo removal chronicles! If you’re new here, I’ve been documenting my laser tattoo removal journey over the last 2 years. Yes, TWO — I can’t believe it’s already been that long. Time flies when you’re having fun (aka getting zapped with high intensity laser beams every 6 weeks).
Keep reading to find out how the process has been going and see some progress pictures. Spoiler alert: It’s super faded now. 👀

2 years and 10 treatments down!

ICYMI: I’ve been going to Removery every 6 weeks to treat each side of my regrettable half sleeve since May 2024. The last time I shared a progress update was July 2025, a little after the 1-year mark. In my initial consultation, I was quoted 2 years to fully remove my tattoo. Fast forward to now, and we’ve officially hit that mark. So, is it all gone?!
Nope.
Realistically, I think I’ve only just reached the halfway point — I probably have another year or 2 left to go until I meet my goal of total removal. However, I’m happy to report that things look very different from when I started, as you can see below.
2 years and 10 treatments down!
On the left is my tattoo in June 2024, one month after my first treatment. On the right is my arm in April 2026. The overall darkness is extremely faded, and some spots are even completely back to my natural skin color. The biggest difference is that the blackout areas are very light gray or totally faded. You can even make out the finer details in the birdhouse that you couldn’t see before due to all of the saturated ink. Win!
As time goes on, the laser setting intensity increases, so side effects have remained the same: pain during the treatment, then swelling, blistering, and scabbing for days after. I also experience more purpura immediately after each session and bruising once the swelling goes down about a week later. Ice packs and ibuprofen still remain the MVPs of my healing process.
Though my tattoo isn’t gone inside the quoted timeframe, I’m still excited about these results and how healthy my skin has stayed throughout the last 2 years. Most importantly, I’m grateful every single day that I started this journey. The time is going to pass anyway. I could’ve spent it wallowing in regret and anxiety, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Instead, I’m slowly but surely inching closer to a blank slate, which is doing wonders for my mental health and perception of my body.
