This could be our last Zoom workshop for a while! I write to you on a rainy Saturday morning, before heading into my studio for a day of painting. While I already have a plan for what I’ll paint for our class tomorrow, I still like to paint it a few more times to make sure I’ve landed on what I think you’ll enjoy most — always trying to keep things simple and accessible. As you saw in my last newsletter I’ve been working on a lot of portraits where it had to look like who I was painting. For this class, there’s no specific person that I need to make my painting look like so I am painting only for fun, and you can too! Jennifer Orkin Lewis and I love teaching these workshops. After 29 (!!) Zoom workshops — starting in September 2021, when not as many artists were teaching online — we’re rethinking how to keep making these classes unique and special. It might be a while before our next one as we figure things out. We often get the majority of our signups in the two days before the workshop. We get it — you need to see if the timing works. Just a reminder that the video-only option is there for you if you can’t make it tomorrow. We hope you’ll join us to paint one of my favorite things - women and flowers! 
All levels welcome — all you need is a little curiosity and whatever supplies you have on hand. Donation-based, all ages and abilities welcome. This time, we’re donating a portion of proceeds to the League of Women Voters. If voting is our superpower, making sure every voice actually counts is the work. With this week’s Supreme Court ruling weakening key Voting Rights Act protections, it felt like the right moment to put our art toward organizations fighting to keep the ballot box accessible to everyone.
