Our editor only wears — and keeps — shoes that stand up to her rigorous walking. These are the sustainable sneakers that have actually stayed in her closet for the past three years!
Move over cotton, there’s another sustainable fabric in town: Linen. Derived from flax plants, linen is easy to grow, requires little water, and is biodegradable. Once sourced, it’s durable, resilient, and only gets better (and softer) with time.
"When I was in NYC a few weeks ago, I wandered into an Aesop 'just to look.' But it smelled so wonderful in there that I started chatting with one of the employees to find out what smelled so divine. It turned out to be their Murasaki Incense – and I ended up walking away with it in tow." [Check it out]
One reader's most reached-for wardrobe item:
"I repeatedly reach for my overalls in my closet. I have several/many/too many(?) pairs of them. I have dressier ones (jumpsuits?) that pair well with cardigans, jean jackets, or ponte blazers that I typically take with me on vacations; I have my daily overalls in cute colors that I wear pretty much everywhere, year-round that are SO comfortable and reflect my lifestyle, and then I have my yard/garden-work overalls that I wear around the house. I also have the same overalls in short versions too! I honestly don't know why all women/humans don't wear overalls every day. They look great with sandals, sneakers, and ankle boots. I love that I don't have to think about what I'm going to wear every day. I pick a color that suits my mood/the weather and head out for my day feeling and looking cute and comfy!" - SC
