If you're finally ready to quit doomscrolling.
 | | | The year I ditched doomscrolling for digital minimalism | | Let's face it, most of us have wished we'd spend less time on our phones. We know they're bad for us in many ways. Research repeatedly links smartphone use to depression, anxiety, and even musculoskeletal problems. | | Quick, mindless entertainment is tempting when life is overwhelming, but letting the offline world be your escape can be far more beneficial to your mental and physical health. And that's the plunge I took a year ago. I quit doomscrolling and filled my downtime with offline or "analog" activities. | | Instead of scrolling, I'd pick up a book. I'd doodle. I'd put on a vinyl and give it my full attention. It was slow and boring at first. But the benefits came, and now my mind is clearer, my days more peaceful, and my phone is the last place I go to for fun. | | Don't worry, I'm not suggesting you have to cut yourself off completely — it's healthy to stay connected to your friends and family, important to keep on top of current events, and enjoying the wild world of the internet is nothing to be ashamed of. | | If you're interested in living a more analog life overall, read about my journey below and the products that can help you take the first leap. | | | | | | | More stuff you might like | | | Keep well, Lois Zoppi Commerce Editor, Healthline | | | Written by Lois Zoppi March 14, 2026 | | | | | Every product we recommend has gone through either Healthline's or Optum Now's vetting processes.
