"Over the last eight years my girlfriends and I have gathered for a weekend together early in the year. Amidst job changes, relocations, weddings and babies, we've prioritized carving out time with one another, and flying across the country to make it happen — an Airbnb in Chicago, each others' homes in Texas, Joshua Tree, and LA. This year we skipped it, not for any other reason than we all had so much happening already. All I can say is that my body could tell. I have missed them fiercely, and I am reminded that the effort is always worth it. That is the takeaway. (Don't worry, we're in talks about our next gathering)." |
A reader comment we love:"Thank you to everyone who shared your stories and to The Good Trade for gathering them so thoughtfully. Reading these experiences is helping me better support the women in my life and prepare for my own future. After feeling blindsided postpartum, I never want to feel that helpless or uninformed again. Sharing these stories matter, because it helps ensure no one has to navigate these transitions feeling lost or alone." |
