Hi ,

We hope you're keeping warm as we head through the winter months. In this newsletter, we're pleased to introduce our new Helpline Manager, Holly, share a brief service update, and let you know how to access winter wellness support.

Meet Holly – Our Christchurch-Based Helpline Manager

Holly's journey with Anxiety NZ began over a decade ago, as a Helpline volunteer while studying psychology. Now, she's back as our Helpline Manager—leading the team from Ōtautahi Christchurch.

"I've always been passionate about the work Anxiety NZ does. I've seen first-hand the difference it makes."

What excites her most? The power of early support.

"Our specialist Helpline Volunteer Workers are often the first person someone talks to about their anxiety. That first conversation can be incredibly powerful—it's where people feel seen, validated, and start to believe things can get better."

Holly says regional presence makes a difference too:

"After the Christchurch earthquakes, people needed help urgently. I saw how vital it was to have people who understand the local context—and now our Helpline truly reaches across Aotearoa."

She also wants people to know the Helpline isn't just for individuals:

"We support whānau too—people calling about someone they care about. We help them find tools and local services to support their loved one."

The Helpline also nurtures future mental health professionals. Many volunteers move into psychology, social work, and clinical roles—some even become our Duty Managers or Clinical Backups, supporting the next generation.

And when she's not supporting others?

"My self-care go-to is simple: a cup of tea, a good book, and my cat Panic curled up on my lap."

Thanks to these generous funders

We are only able to offer our 24/7, national mental health support with thanks to donors and funders. This month we received grants from the following funds.

We'd also love to take a minute to sincerely thank our donors. Those of you who support us to continue doing the work we do.

You Can Help Keep the Line Open...
