Style Notes: Five Easy, Everyday Style FindsIn case you're also looking for simple and minimal pieces for summer.
Hi! Happy Sunday. I’d planned to send you something a bit more polished today, but our weekend took an unexpected turn—mysterious toddler fever, surprise trip to pediatric urgent care (absolutely bumping in there, in case you were wondering), and not a lot of downtime in between (lol). Everyone’s okay now, thank goodness. But instead of a full letter, I’m dropping in with a quick little style snack—a few fun things to browse if you’re curled up and in the mood to click around tonight. More soon, P.S. A friendly reminder that you can easily adjust your email settings here if you’d like to opt out of the Style column. My Top 5 Finds of the Week100% cotton, refined, so elegant. I love the A-line shape in a dress, and it’s something I'm constantly on the hunt for. I love that the straps are adjustable. Just an all-around, lovely dress for the summer that you can dress up with heels or nice jewelry, or dress down with simple, bare sandals and a tote bag, as shown here. (Btw, this brand is worth checking out in general for refined silhouettes and good materials at a fair price point.) Another version of the simple black summer dress! I love that the back is smocked for an easy, throw-on-and-go fit. I love the simplicity of a black dress. You can keep it as minimal as you’d like, or add lots of interest and color through your shoes, bag, or jewelry. I ended up purchasing this dress with some store credit I have, as I currently don’t have a stretchy-ish, linen black dress in my closet at the moment. Will report back… It's worth noting that I was inspired to buy this after seeing it on style content creator María Valdés. I love her styling here (shown above), which would be perfect for a day of exploring in a new city, a daytime date, or a weekend brunch. This is where I confess I went a little buckwild at the Mango 30% off sale and bought a bunch of heels after realizing I don’t own many. I’ve been going into an office recently (a coworking space) and want to look a bit more polished; an easy heel is what I’m aiming for. I also purchased these burgundy heels, a brown linen suit blazer, and some basic slingback kitten heels(which are now unfortunately sold out). Regarding the blazer, I’m hoping it will work out, but I’ve had trouble finding blazers that fit my body well. I bit the bullet and purchased this one because I’ve realized that most of my recent “style inspo” screenshots feature polished, refined looks, many of which incorporate a blazer. We shall see! As for the burgundy heels—has anyone else noticed that burgundy has become a neutral in many outfits? It adds such a nice pop of color whether you’re wearing blue jeans, black trousers, or even white. The flat version of these sandals has been on my wishlist, but oh my goodness, this heeled version! They remind me of the Hermès sandals, but more accessible in price. These will currently stay on my wishlist as I think I’ve bought far too many shoes this season, but I’m floating it here for anyone looking for a simple, everyday sandal with a touch of sophistication via a 1.5” super walkable heel.
Lastly, I'd like to recommend a pretty solid button-down shirt. I own a few button-downs I love, but as soon as I put this shirt on (*full transparency, the brand gifted it with no obligation to post anything), I thought, wow. A few things stood out. First, the feel of the first really does feel “worn in,” as advertised on the product description page. I love my AYR Deep End shirts, but there’s something about the White Oxford version of it that I own that makes them feel quite precious. With these shirts, however, I feel like I can just throw them on and go. Second, the fit of this shirt just works for me. It’s not too boxy or oversized, and also not too slim. As a petite person, I’ve had trouble finding button-downs that don’t swallow me whole, even if I order an XS or even a XXS in some cases. I now own this Buck Mason shirt in the Sea Blue Stripe color, and will be going back to order it in the White. In general, I'm a massive fan of this brand and how they execute basics in a way that feels effortless to wear every day without things feeling too precious.
