Meet the Presenter

David A. Clark, PhD, clinical psychologist, researcher, therapist and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick, Canada received his formal training in behavior therapy and a PhD in 1984 at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, England. He then proceeded to postdoctoral research and clinical training under Dr. Aaron T. Beck at the Center for Cognitive Therapy, University of Pennsylvania. He has coauthored several books on cognitive behavior therapy of anxiety and depression with Dr. Beck. He maintains a blog with Psychology Today called the Runaway Mind.

In this webinar Dr. Rottenberg will explore the possibilities of life after depression by sharing his research on mood disorders and his personal experience as a depressed person. There will also be time set aside for audience members to ask questions regarding the topic.

 

Depression is one of the most urgent mental health challenges facing modern society. While scientists have generally assumed that the prognosis for well-being is poor among those with depression, new research is now challenging this assumption: in national datasets, a substantial group of people who had a diagnosis of depression go on to report high levels of psychological well-being, including lives rich with positive emotion, purpose, and meaning.

Meet the Presenter

Jonathan Rottenberg, PhD, directs the Better Outcomes Laboratory at Cornell University. Before coming to Cornell, Rottenberg was Director of the Mood and Emotion lab at the University of South Florida where he was also the Director of Clinical Training. He received a BA from Harvard University, a MA in History from John Hopkins University, and his PhD in Psychology from Stanford University. Dr. Rottenberg has authored two trade books and . His most recent digital outreach project is, a video series about life after depression. .
