Hey friend,
Before I found out about my ADHD, I used to chase all the latest productivity strategies.
I would read the books, listen to the podcasts, and even watch the screencasts of people walking through their perfect productivity systems.
Sometimes, this can be kind of fun!
I enjoy the mental process of trying to creatively optimize and seek out better ways of doing things. It also gave me a fun topic to hyperfocus on for awhile.
The problem came when a system would fail, and I would be filled with a deep sense of shame. Guilt that I wasn't disciplined enough or didn't have enough willpower to make a productivity strategy work.
Now I know how important it is to have a sense of novelty in any productivity system that's going to work for me. So when that novelty fades and a strategy feels too boring to use any more, I don't feel bad about it. It's working as intended!
The strategy served me for a time, and now it's time to let it go. (maybe I'll try it out again in the future)
And now comes the fun part, finding something new!
What strategy or system gas been hitting that novelty quota for you lately? Got some new app or productivity trick that's working great?
I'd love to hear about it!
Just reply to this email—I may share in future issue.
Stay focused,
Jesse J. Anderson
P.S. Oops, this is a day late cuz I've been sick, which also means I had to reschedule some audiobook recording work. 😩 The majority of it is done, there's just some re-recording I need to finish up. Hopefully it'll be available soon! 😅

ADHD Strategy Eat the Ice Cream First Don't force yourself to "eat the frog" and tackle the hardest task first. Instead, "eat the ice cream first" by starting with a task that excites and engages you. Building momentum with enjoyable tasks will help you conquer the more challenging ones later. |

🎙️ The Book Marketing Action Podcast: Building an Online Presence to Achieve Book Marketing Success
Becky and I met this past summer when Threads first launched (I think it was my first thriendship!). I was researching marketing tips for my upcoming book launch at the time. My launch went surprisingly well, and I had a wonderful time talking with Becky about what worked and what didn't! If you're an author (or aspiring to be one) I recommend this episode and the podcast as a whole.
