| | | Where does the time go?! No, really, I want to know. It seems like it was a few minutes ago that I sat down at my desk, ready to take on the day. Suddenly, it's after 4 p.m. and I'm only halfway through my to-do list. | | So, how are we supposed to cook a healthy meal and exercise, in addition to all the other things on our plate, each day? I honestly don't know. But I'm hoping that Brooke Feehan, health coach at Real Appeal, does. Below, she gives her two cents. | | | | | | | Ready? Ginger Wojcik Newsletter Editor, Healthline | | | Written by Ginger Wojcik October 23, 2025 • 3.5 min read | | | | | | | | Q: | What are some healthy lifestyle hacks you would suggest to someone who wants to eat healthier and exercise more, but feels like they have no time? | | | A: | Time management can be a barrier for anyone trying to live a healthy lifestyle or make changes to their routine.
Honestly, I'm no exception. I work full-time, go to grad school, care for my family, and volunteer several hours a week, which frequently leaves me with very little time to prioritize self-care and healthy habits like exercise and nutrition.
If you feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day for healthy living, check out these tips below! - Utilize your calendar: Time blocking is a strategy that helps improve concentration by physically scheduling things on your calendar. Do you want to prioritize a 15-minute workout during one of your breaks? Add it to your calendar. Pro tip: Most digital calendars have a notification option to remind you of your upcoming time block.
- Start small: Rome wasn't built in a day, and your healthy habits won't be either — and that's OK! If your goal is to prep all of your meals and snacks for the week on a Sunday, maybe start with just lunch for the week or all three meals for just 1 day. Taking on too much at once can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to tasks that might take a decent amount of time.
- Be OK with saying no: Any people pleasers in the room? Yeah, me too. It's natural to want to say yes to everything that is asked of us. But if saying yes means ignoring the desires you have for yourself, it's OK to say no. Spreading yourself too thin can lead to burnout.
- Protect your time: This goes hand in hand with allowing yourself to say no. Your time is valuable, and if healthy lifestyle goals are your priority right now, you're allowed to set boundaries to protect your time. Giving yourself permission to dedicate your time to the things that matter most to you can make a world of difference on a wellness journey!
We only have 24 hours in a day, and sometimes that doesn't feel like enough.
Exploring what time management looks like to you can help you set yourself up for success to achieve your goals and desires, whatever they may be. Remember, you're just one person, and we were never meant to take on everything at once! | | | | | Brooke Feehan, Health Coach | | | Want to learn more about food, diets, cooking, or some other nutrition subject?
