Happy Sunday. I’ve been out of town this weekend celebrating my 8-year-old’s birthday. Instead of a party and presents he wanted a “getaway to a cozy cabin in Mendocino.” The other day we stocked up on books in town and spent the afternoon reading in a sun-drenched cafe garden surrounded by other people (see: pic at the end of this email). I hastily typed out this quote from one of my new books in my Notes app: “This is not mine, this am I not, this is not my self.” I jumped in the ice cold river. We daydreamed about building a no-technology shack in our yard, complete with a reading corner, typewriter, and guitar. Also: keeping bees (but turns out they’re even harder to care for than dogs and cats). I wrote this week’s roundup before all that, before the no-technology shack. Always, the re-entry. Goggins deserves a mini Oscar for the glimmer in his eyes when he says, “I heard you need someone to fix your pipes.” The campaign is kinda brilliant, though some might say it should have been a bit spicier. ...
