I’ve clearly got fall on my mind, as most everything I’ve been drawn to these past two weeks sits neatly under “fall basics.” Have you started thinking about autumnal wardrobe choices yet, or is it too soon? Onto today’s edit…
A matching set feels so ’90s in the best way. The vest will also work with shorts now, while it’s still hot out. You can’t tell from the photos above, but the cardigan has a lovely “cinched” silhouette towards the waist, which gives it a shape I love. I’m hoping this will be part of my “throw on and go” outfit rotation for the fall... 2 // An everyday ballet flat, in chocolate suede. These Loeffler Randall beauties are on their way to me. I like the barely-there heel that lends it a bit of sturdiness and structure for walking all day. I’ll be living in ballet flats, loafers, and sneakers this fall. All of the flat shoes, please. (Found an alt from J.Crew here.) Forgive me because this item is out of my personal budget at over $1500, but perhaps it’ll fit into one of yours. The leather collar detail, the specific shade of nutty brown, the golden buttons…it’s beautiful. I’ll be keeping a mental bookmark of this one as I browse this season for lower-priced alternatives… 4 // A dark navy button-down shirt for $90. Navy is such a versatile “neutral” that can pair with many colors for fall (see below). Oddly, I don’t currently own a navy shirt, so this is going on my fall shopping list. The one linked above from Banana Republic appears to have a ton of great reviews. 5 // A cotton poplin asymmetrical top Forgive me for linking another Banana find, but how good is this top? So easy to throw on with trousers or a silk skirt for work, or jeans for an easy “going out” look. I like the white version too - such an easy way to invite in a bit of freshness into your closet. 6 // Cuyana system tote bag in Cherry. Ever since I saw a woman at a café carrying this specific shade of tote, I’ve been waiting for it to come back into stock, and it finally has! I love that it’s not too huge, but it will still fit my MacBook Air. 7 // A silk short. A late entry into the summer wardrobe files, but I love the navy and red colors of these shorts from Doen. It pairs easily with a relaxed white tee or a navy tee, and could transition into fall with heavier-weight knits and sweatshirts. Comfortable elastic waist? Check. Fall color that will go with everything? Check. Comes in petite? Check. Adding to my cart!! (FWIW, I found the waistband of these pants to be quite compressive. If you’re in between sizes, I’d size up.) 9 // My dream suede bucket bag... Note, it’s $795, so it feels more like an investment piece. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this brand’s bags. J.Crew has some gorgeous suede bags each season, too, worth checking out. 10 // A perfect cashmere cardigan. J.Crew has some gorgeous new colors in right now that are perfect for fall. My pick is this olive shade. The light aqua is pretty and unexpected, too - and would pair well with olive bottoms. For an everyday, non-cashmere option, I’m really liking this “sport cardigan” from Alex Mill. 11 // Drapey, comfortable trousers. On my fall wishlist is a unicorn “trouser that’s not a trouser.” By this I mean, it looks polished, drapey, and sophisticated, but it’s really either a pull-on pant (elastic waist) or a combination of a zip-up closure with elastic back. Does this make sense? Does this dream pant only exist in my head? Do you own such a pant?? This pair from AYR looks like a good candidate. This pair from J.Crew intrigues me too, but it’s a button-and-zip closure… This gorgeous pair from Kallmeyer is on my dream wishlist, but the price tag gives me pause. Lastly, two things I’ve been wearing and liking a lot lately:
