The theme is Faces, Flowers and Patterns. The only thing I’d add to make it even more of my favorite things to paint would be water. ( why didn’t we add that!?) Can’t make it on Sunday? Choose the video only. Ever since seeing the Hockney show in Paris I’ve been obsessed with pattern and adding it everywhere I can. Above is a recent page in my Mona & June sketchbook. Below is a sketchbook spread that I painted as a demo for the workshop at my place at the end of June. The grandkids and my daughter are here for a month. I moved out of my new/old studio to let them have the apartment - so I am back in my home studio, which I’ve kept as my ‘office.’ This time instead of putting things out of reach, I simply put a lock on the outside of my door! Early in the visit I let Mona paint this spread in the sketchbook with me. For some reason she hasn’t wanted to paint since then. I might have given her too much direction and she felt she had to be too careful? Maybe drawing the box of the area I wanted her to work in was too controlling. HA! Lesson learned. But we’ve been doing a ton of drawing. And I have to say. For four and a half? She draws exceptionally well! We have such fun drawing together. I love this drawing below SO much. My glasses! The heart pattern on my dress! My smile! It’s going in a frame. These kind of emails really make my day. Interested in a print - framed or unframed? Or maybe a painted print?
