Paid subscriptions keep it alive entirely. Thank you! Today I’m sharing a comic from 2018. I drew it in my basement apartment after a grueling work day. At the time I was a project manager at a web design agency, and I was NOT a good fit for the role. On especially hard days, my anxiety would manifest physically in my throat. It felt like a marble had been lodged into the soft cushion of my windpipe, making it hard to breathe. I began to picture the blocked feeling in my throat as a hairball, one I couldn’t quite cough up (gross, I know). But the visual stuck, and when I decided to anthropomorphize my anxiety for a comic, it felt obvious that it would be a tangly little guy. If only I knew this characterization would one day inspire my illustrated memoir! Funny how it all shakes out. Here it is: Links of note:
