I'm writing this newsletter after having spent the past three weeks in Japan. Highlights include peaceful moments at teahouses with curtains flowing in the wind, sashimi melting in my mouth like butter, an abundance of matcha ice cream and red bean paste in various shapes, immersive botanical gardens for the senses, taste explosions 🍜, and floating rest houses in perfect gardens 🍃🌿  Japan in the Summer During this trip, I was constantly reminded of why I started Out of Office. I envision a world where life takes center stage, embracing what makes us feel most alive. Where we engage with the full spectrum of being human. In doing so, we prioritize a life where we are present, observe the little things, engage in free play, pursue hobbies, take time to dream, delight in conversations with new friends, contribute our strengths, appreciate the beauty around us, celebrate moments of awe and wonder, and with that, add meaning and color to our lives. By aligning with what brings us joy and ignites our natural energy, leaning into the natural seasons and rhythms, and emphasizing exploration and experimentation, we cultivate more engaged, authentic, and vibrant lives. For many, this experience is vivid when we’re “out of office” — on vacation. But I believe this is a way of living, not just a feeling reserved for only a few (on average, max 25) days per year. We can now reimagine how we want to work and live. We can design a creative life where we live flexibly and openly, not sequentially, taking time to walk slowly 🍃 and wonder, stop and smell the flowers 🌺 (such as this INCREDIBLE smelling flower pictured here), travel, work, and live from different places.
A Time of Experimentation and Play Summer is full of abundance. The natural world reaches full bloom. Our energy vibrates at the level of abundance, allowing us to explore and play freely. At Out of Office, we believe in the power of slowing down, exploration, and play. Summer is the perfect season to lean into all of these pillars. It's a time that's meant to broaden our horizons, explore, relax, and ask questions.
Together, rest, exploration, and play provide the fertile ground where fresh ideas take root, self-discovery blooms, and personal and collective flourishing transpires. How do we practice “feeling alive” this summer?
Bringing the OOO Lifestyle out into the world!
The beauty of being ‘out of office’ is that it can mean something different to each of us. A two-week expedition, a night at the gallery, co-working from your favorite coffee shop, or twenty minutes of playtime with our pets. As most creatives will tell you: All of these things feed our work, even if it doesn’t “seem” like “we’re working.” This collection is our celebration of that—a way to claim these new ways of living and working, and connect with others also forging this new path. We love seeing this community out in the world embracing a new way of working and living!
With our Out of Office uniform, launched a month ago, and our newly dropped “This Is My Office” hat, we aim to provide experiences, goods and fun tools designed to deepen the ways modern professionals connect, interact and express themselves.
